Over the years I have painted a few pickup trucks of my own 47 ford total restoration 77 ford pickup a few cars but Lots of yellow iron Cat, Deer dump trucks ect. It's been 35 plus years since I sprayed anything other than yellow iron. I used a 2 gallon Delvis pressure pot to do all the yellow iron equipment. Pressure pot will work for the feather fill primer I've used this on my 47 to fill all the minor imperfections with a lot of sanding.
So I really feel that I can do this even if it's not yellow, oh did I mention I hate yellow paint. I also have very high end hvlp sprayer for my wood working projects it really puts a very nice finish on metal doors, furniture ect.

I have never tried to spray automotive paint with it. Has anyone done done this. And what tip sizes work best.

I found a few posts re turbine sprayers on other forums and seems like it's feasible.
It looks like for the price of a decent system, you could also consider getting a traditional 60gal compressor. Is it a space issue?
I found a like-new 60gal single stage craftsman for $500 on marketplace and use it all the time for other projects. I've seen other larger compressors on MP for under $500 as well. I'm planning on painting a truck project that I have going on in the next year but use compressed air way more than I thought I would now that I have the compressor.

I have a small compressor that I use and is plumbed in my garage but I don't really have the space for a bigger one and it's not in the budget. Also my wife says no painting car in the garage so I'm not painting it here I will be painting it in my dad's garage it's a detached and no fumes in the house.
