I've had the strangest experience with that site. A few months back I registered there to post a couple of spare parts I had in the Classifieds area. Almost immediately a comment was added to my post questioning my motives, asking why the first thing I did was to place a classified ad. I own an original Cobra, so between not having much common ground with the Factory Five cars and on top of professional and personal obligations, I usually don't have a lot of time to post on any forums (occasionally on Club Cobra). Regardless, it seems logical that at least some Factory Five car owners would appreciate my sharing the few genuine original or concours quality reproduction spares I had available. Anyway, the moderator at FFCars.com deleted my post, claiming that I was "spamming", which was odd but didn't cause me much agnst. However, on top of that, just yesterday I happened to be doing a Google search on something Cobra related and a link came up which was to a post on the FFCars.com forum. When I clicked on it the Google response from that site, it prevented even my viewing saying that my "IP address was banned". Who is the strange person that runs or moderates that forum? Very crude...

Try emailing administrator@ffcars.com The admin over there is Phil I will point him to your post here. Not sure who would have banned you over there without any warning.

I did send an email to the admin a couple of times (my user ID there was dzf1), but never received a response... that tells you a lot about the person right there.

There are several Mods on that site. I know they frown upon on new members that appear to have joined to only sell items.

Right out of the FFCARS Bill of Rights.. Sort of answers your question. There are MODS here that are also MODS over there.

Lately we have had a lot of people just selling parts on our site. These members don't participate in the forum discussions and add no valve to the site. They need to use eBay or pay for a banner ad on our site. Our prices are much cheaper than eBay and we don't charge for each sale or each listing. Don't abuse the free classifieds and ruin it for the participating members.

I'm not in the business of selling parts just selling a couple of personal possessions, so asking to pay for a banner ad is very strange. To the rest of society the value added is providing the opportunity for the car owner to purchase a few hard to find parts, backed by decades of experience to know what is correct. Then on top of that, what's up with banning an IP address so someone can't even look at the site because they offered a couple of rare parts from a personal collection for sale? Ok, I'm chased away.

Classic case of the abusers spoiling it for those who clearly aren't. Life isn't always fair, right? I understand why you wouldn't like it, but don't take it personally.

X2 - What do you have?

If you really want access to ffcars I would send the email and ask for access again with the promise you won't abuse the Classifieds.

Here's the issue with what happened on the other site. Yes the user was in violation of the BOR however the user was obviously not the typical spammer so did not deserve an instant ban and blocking of IP. The one touch ban and clean feature on the other site that was used in this case not only removes the user, user ID, login, all posts and threads but also blocks the IP address that the use logs in from. A simple warning or PM would have been far more appropriate in this case. It is impossible for the admin on the other site to completely reinstate the user now that the 'purge' has been performed.

Makes sense.. I sure hope nobody ever accidently bans and cleans me. :) Wonder if it's possible to just get the IP unblocked?

Yes the IP can be unblocked. Unfortunately the rest is gone just like flushing the toilet......

So, you fully admit you don't have the time and/or interest in posting on the forum, but you do want to sell your parts there. Seems like a pretty cut and dry violation of the forum rules to me. That's what e-bay is for. Just saying....

Pete isn't that a bit like shooting someone dead because they stepped on your grass without asking them not to? I think a civil request to stay off the grass might have been more appropriate.

Here's a good example of what could have been done http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/282264-houston-paint-people.html

I dated a girl once in college that evidently had some kind of one-touch button to instantly dump me and leave no trace..

Gentlemen,

The OP can open another thread in the classifieds if he wishes to sell some spare parts. Using a thread on this site to complain about the mods on another site isn't in line with the community theme of this forum. It's been explained to him why he was banned and has been given a way to rectify the situation by emailing the administrator. Although his posts might not be recoverable, I'm sure there is a way for Phil to reinstate his membership if he chooses.

I'm closing this thread.

:)
