I didn't like the way FFR designed the carpet layout under the doors There is the 90 degree bend where the horizontal piece of carpet butts up against the vertical piece. Some have covered with a metal strip, others have had the carpet edged. I went a little different and did it with one piece of carpet. I used the 2 supplied pieces and joined them with some tape to make a one piece template. I then used the template to trace onto an additional piece of matching carpet. Once I had glued this one piece in place, I ended up with a small triangle exposed in the circled area.

I then cut a small triangle piece, slightly oversize and in the same grain direction and glued it in place. I didn't get a photo of the furry triangle, but you can use your imagination . It should be a press fit, to ensure no gaps if some shrinkage occurs over time.
I did this about 5-6 years ago, and it has held up perfectly.

Nigel, that's genius. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the hardest to come by. I might copy this if you don't mind.

To have an idea used on your build, I would be honoured :)

Is there a good online source for matching the stock FFR black carpet? I have the trunk carpet kit but I think I'll need some extra to cover the drop-trunk mod and I'd also like to cover the sides of the trunk walls which if I recall the FFR provided carpeting doesn't cover.

You can order a spare piece from FFR. The shipping is a little crazy though. I happen to be ordering a hood scoop pretty soon so I will add a piece to that. I ended up with some spare bits from my friend Scott's coupe. That's how I got my drop trunk covered. Every time I tried an outside source it didn't quite match.
This is great, thanks for posting! Now I know what I'll do with some of the extra carpet I ordered from FFR.

Is the carpet just a flat roll and you cut to shape as needed?
