For those of you that have had a blueprint engine delivered, just curious if Fedex treated it as curbside only, or if they brought it to the garage?
When the blueprint rep called with a tracking number and the completed invoice, he shared it is a curbside and that I should not expect Fedex to help with getting it in the garage. (this is a normal driveway and garage access)
It is coming 4 days earlier than they said it would, and I will not be in town - trying to determine how much "help" to rally to be there for delivery.

My guy drove through a field and dropped it in the garage. I gave him some $$$. Liftgate right into the garage.

I have had many large/heavy things delivered residentially requiring a lift gate. Most of the drivers were fine putting the freight in the garage, as they already had it on a pallet jack. Occasionally I get one that refuses to saying it isn't part of their job...so I keep some hardwood moving dollies (harbor freight, northern tool, etc) on hand that I can use. I simply have them put the freight on those at the end of the driveway and I move them to the garage.
The driver that delivered my BPE engine put it at the front edge of my garage with no problem, again, a lot depends on the driver.

My recent delivery of a BP 347, was put on a dolly at the curb and wheeled into my garage. Great service.

When the trucking co that delivered arrived the driver said he wasn't required to bring it any further than the end of my driveway but he did bring it to my garage. He said it was union rules. He also was working on a car of his own.

That is what I was told is it's kind of up to the attitude of the driver.
If he's cool and maybe a gearhead you'll probably get them to get it put in your garage.
If not you need to be prepared with dollies so you can roll it in yourself with some help.

I'm hoping for a nice delivery driver when my 347 gets delivered.

Head over to Harbor Freight and get a couple of those wooden roller dollies. They are cheap. I had the engine crate on them so as to roll around when needed. Also doubled as a work bench for a bit. Came in handy when it was time to unbox the motor.

I've had the same Fed Ex driver deliver three Blue Print engines to me. He is great. He backs up his rig 150 feet down my road, makes a 90 degree turn and unloads them on my driveway. Then he and I pull them into the garage and put it on wheel trolleys. He goes the extra mile and helps me open up the crate and inspects them with me. He is a car guy and loves the builds. We visit for 30 minutes or so and talk cars. Great guy for sure.

Off loaded and delivered straight into our garage - FEDEX Driver was great and used an electric pallet jack to transfer and position.

Same as many here. Driver had no issue bringing it into the garage and even helped to position it with front of motor facing out so it was easy to pick it out of the crate and then go into the chassis.

My FedEx driver showed up with a lift gate and a pallet jack right to the curb. I helped him push it up the driveway and into the garage No issues at all.

Same as Caddy Dad for me. FedEx driver........great guy and super professional.......off loaded at the curb and helped me push it up the driveway into my garage on his pallet jack/mover. He wouldn't accept a tip despite considerable urging. He said it wasn't allowed.

It is a good thing Sears does not sell/deliver engines.
We bought a Kenmore Elite refrigerator to be delivered and the old refrigerator removed. Sears could not get their truck up our steep winding, wooded driveway. I took my trailer down and hauled the refer up to the house. Later I intended to haul the old refrigerator down to the truck but it was gone. They launched it down the driveway like a sled. I went down to tip the driver, but he was missing, and the air was fowled with the smell of crap. After a minute he climbed out of the woods pulling up his pants. The refrigerator was crap too.

Take my advice: A lot depends on the CUSTOMER !
.
I drove and did this job for 40 years...mostly in the Teamsters Union. Different freight companies have diferrent rates for different levels of service. Some shippers only want to pay for curbside...some shippers pay for "inside delivery". When the customer pays, they are often given a choice of what "level of service" they want to pay for. When a driver shows up, they already KNOW what level of service has been selected. But all that is just background.....a lot depends on the customer's attitude. Some customers are demeaning and condescending, but not many. Some customers know how to treat a driver as a fellow human being....if you do that and treat them as you would like if you were them then most drivers will bend over backwards for you. Plus: most guys receiving an engine delivery are happy and so are friendly to the driver (this helps). And most drivers are car guys and, in general, enjoy bringing toys to people rather than delivering the same old bull**** to some factory. Most of the time, it's fun for both. When he shows up, ask him if he wants a coffee.
He'll probably decline, but feel like you see him as a human being. And if you like the guy, throw him a couple of bucks. Whatever you put into the Universe as a kind gesture will return to you.

In my past I drove a truck for about six years, and as a general rule in the freight world, curbside liftgate delivery means to the curb. Any driver will usually do more if you treat him nicely. Like most people will. They are not required to do more than curbside. Of course, a tip always helps. Professor B is spot on.

I just had my BP347 delivered today. One caution is the skid size. My purchase was an engine only as I will be replacing my temporary old 1979 302. My tractor with forks did not fit the skid so truck driver just placed the engine down my driveway a bit till I could adjust the fork spacing. My forks adjust but not easy and have never had to go so narrow. Skid inside is only 22" so be warned, not the more std 27". Otherwise engine traveled great, was well packaged with no damage. 219098

Thanks All! Appreciate the insight!
I was able to schedule it for yesterday, after I was back at home. The driver wanted to leave it outside of the garage on the driveway, but with a little coaxing he helped get one side of the pallet over the lip into the garage and I was able to get it from there. All is good.

I love how some folks got the engine delivered to the garage! I live in a mountainous community where such deliveries are impossible. Knowing this, I had FedEx ship to their Chattanooga warehouse where a bud and I drove up to have it lifted on to the pickup. Had to store it in his barn for a month. Getting it back on then off loaded in my shop was...fun. Same story on the Moser rear end.
