I am curious if anyone with a finished coupe can provide feedback on whether or not sun visors like these would have any practical utility:

I like the idea of a roll bar mount but not sure of the practical application given the size of the cockpit. Thanks in advance.

I’m pretty sure Edwardb has a set in his coupe as well as the 33 truck he built …Reach out to him for his feedback.

I have the exact same sun visors mounted in my Gen 3 Coupe and they've worked out wonderfully for me, now after almost 2 full years of driving.
Of course, they are Expensive, but are a quality piece of equipment and in the end, do the job well.

I figured out a way to nicely mount them on the roll bar, but they need to hinge out of the way in the Forward Direction, not like most production cars that have them hinge back over your head to lie flush against the cabin roof.
If you fold them back towards your head there's simple not enough room for the visor and your head.
The trick is to trim the depth of the visor's plexiglass down to just 4 inches. Yes, that looks like a lot to remove, but the Type-65's windshield is short and at least for me, the 4" dropped down visor shields the sun quite well and enough.
Another custom touch I did was to eliminate any possibility of reflections off the plexiglass visor, I wrapped it with extra cabin roof headliner, that was black and had fairly low reflectivity. I didn't plan on wanting to look thru it.

The visor kit with the plexiglass already trimmed to 4 inches and covered with ceiling liner -

I hope that helps your decision and shows you what to do.

Probably you saw this in my build thread and a couple subsequent posts. I used the ones from Wild Horses Inc. (wildhorses4x4.com) in my Coupe and the truck. I believe also available directly from the manufacturer and look like what you pictured. For the Coupe, I trimmed them down slightly. Because of the roll cage, they need to fold forward. Are they useful? Yes, now finishing up the Coupe's fifth season :( and 9,000+ miles, I use them frequently. They nearly doubled in price between the Coupe and the truck, which is hard to imagine, but I'd still use them again.

Thank you both for your responses and detailed feedback. There is no substitute for real world experience. The picture I included is from Wild Horses and they are selling these at $280 a pair currently but it sounds like you get what you pay for (although $140 sounds a lot nicer). The necessity of having them fold forward makes all the sense in the world given the limited positioning available.

A little late the party but I used this and it has worked well for me and saved some $. It doesn't look as out of place as what you would think.

I am open to all ideas here so thanks for sharing. Curious if you mounted it at the corner so you could pivot it sideways or did you center mount?

I mounted mine toward the center, so only forward use. I'll get a pic tonight and add to the thread.
