Kleiner Mod Question

Has anyone tack welded the bolt head on the tank side of the mounting plate? Any reason why I wouldn't want to do that?

I didn't, because a) I don't have a welder and b) it doesn't need to be welded. Even if I had a welder, I don't think I would've wanted to mess up the powdercoat when the bolt is held in place just fine, as installed per JK's installation recommendation.

I was happy to find I could still reach the rear right bolt before I put on the aft wheel well metal. It had come loose during the build. Very happy with that mod.

Sure, no reason not to and in fact I encouraged FFR to do so 10+ years ago! They effectively have now with the Mk5 using captive nuts.

Thanks Jeff. I'll put a couple of little tacks on there and touchup the paint with POR.

Hmmm, another question then. Would you do nuts and skip the coupling?

Ha! I thought you were talking about nuts! Do that and the coupling is unneeded.

I used red Loctite, Same purpose, just easier application - and that things never coming loose
