Frame/chassis serial number issue

Frame serial number was powder coated over. Can a plate with s/n on it be place in same area or?

Why not try removing the powder coat? Start by sanding the area with 100 grit

Or try masking the area and using acetone to remove the PC without risking abrading the engraved number...?
