289 USRRC kit arrived Sunday 8/31/2025
Opened 3 boxes that day like a kid the night before Christmas
Did about 1/2 the inventory Monday, finished up around midnight on Tuesday.
I left most everything in the boxes it was shipped in, except I set the seats and roll bar in place for now, just for looks and inspiration.
Holy cow there is a poop-ton of brown Kraft paper packing material! I hope to pawn it off on someone who needs moving/packing supplies. It’s good clean heavyweight material.

My POL list has 16 items on it, plus another 5 on my MIK list. I’m sure I’ve got plenty I can work on while waiting for the missing items.

Find the box with your hood scoop, and take it out of the box. I didn't, and that box was at the bottom of a pile of boxes for months. Hood scoop was pretty deformed at that point.

He has an FIA car...scoop is molded into the hood.

I agree on the brown paper! Whoever has the contract to supply them hit a goldmine!

Congrats! Taking inventory was a very educational and exciting step in the process for me. One thing I did that was really helpful was to take a sharpie and write the major item content of each box on the side. That way I could glance at the boxes and have some idea where things were without having to go through the inventory list line by line or rummage through all the boxes. Saved a lot of time!

Your heart was in the right place! I’ll take any and all comments from those more experienced with doing a FFR kit ;)

I put the brown paper on our Book of Faces community page. I had a response within a couple of hours from a fella that sells books out of his garage. I guess he is trying to become another Bezos... he stopped by and took it all. Hang on to some of it as it is great for masking off things that may need to be touched up.

I tried to heat our neighborhood with all the paper and cardboard, using my fire pit. Didn't work.

I was a new builder as well. I kept all the parts in the same boxes they came in as well, it made for a little more searching between boxes to get all the pieces for an assembly together but the benefit of having the list consistent with the box outweighs that. At least it was for me
Have fun on the build!!
