I am way far behind on my build thread, maybe I'll get a chance to update next weekend. In the meantime, I have a few questions for those of you who are installing a Coyote into the MkV chassis. Me and my dad did the first test fit this past weekend. Fit in pretty well, similar to Type 65 except I had to install from the side as someone else found out as well. Also like the Type 65, removed the alternator and metal bracket over the DI pump. Thankfully, it also went in without disconnecting the steering shaft.

Where have you installed the computer? I see 2 possible places, center of the firewall behind the engine or above the passenger footbox. Pros and cons to both, I installed on top of the footbox with the Type 65 similar to what Paul did, I just had to lengthen the O2 sensor wires. But there is less real estate then the Type 65 if I also have a wiper motor and heater/defrost solenoid in that area.

The air intake system supplied appears to be identical to the Type 65 but will not work with the MkV (see picture), the filter is way too big. Only way it would fit is pointed directly downward behind the cooling fan which is no good. I think Ron's MkV I saw at the Open House had a much smaller air filter to make it work?

Not a whole lot of room for the cooling system expansion tank either. I know I could use the FFR supplied system but I would like to stick with the way Ford designed the cooling system. Seems the only way it would fit is right about where the brake power booster would sit (which I don't have) but I'll have to make a custom bracket to hold it.

I have my MKV / Coyote gen4x with FFR supplied intake components installed and I am go-carting……So while it does fit, I tend to agree with you, I do not love the extreme downward angle and ending position / size of the filter. Additionally, I notice you have the KRC power steering kit……be careful with the upper radiator hose to ensure it clears the PS belt. As for the computer, I put mine behind the engine….I also purchased the panel that covers that section from Snakebite Motorworks. Cleans everything up nicely in my opinion. Look forward to watching your progress.

I put it on the top of the passenger foot box with the plugs facing forward. Still room for the wiper motor. Be careful where you put the wiper motor. I found it hit the body if it wasn't close to the inside edge of the foot box.

Thank you Mike & Tango! I noticed the one in the FFR showroom had a much smaller filter installed, maybe that's the solution? I did make a panel for that X section behind the motor but I did buy the extra storage panels Snakebite makes for the trunk area. Where did you mount the fuse box for Gen 4? I have the Gen 3 but I assume it's the same.

Mike, I think I saw one of the cars you were building at the FFR open house as well with the computer on the pass footbox. I also noticed that you were able to sneak the A/C heater solenoid inside the pass footbox? I like that idea and will give more room for the wiper motor. Appreciate the tips!

Coyote fuse box is over the passenger footbox along the angled side closest to the firewall. I have a heater + AC so it gets busy around there. I saw an Edwardb post where he separated that top footbox cover panel into 2 sections, very slick solution that allows for future accessibility. I have not done that yet, but I would really like to.

Thanks for the pictures and ideas guys. I'll be mocking up the Aluminator in my Mk5 in the not too distant future. Same configuration as the Gen3/Gen4 Coyotes except for the intake. My plan now is the PCM on the side. Centered in the back maybe saves a little space but I've avoided trying re-route the engine harness on other builds and will aim for the same thing this time around. Planning to do the Mustang based expansion tank. That along with fitting the intake is why I avoided the power brakes. Plus I'm happy with the same Wilwood setup that's unpowered in my Coupe. One hint from my build thread posted by Jeff Kleiner -- don't split the footbox top covers and make both sides removable. Necessary for access plus provides easier access to the windshield mounting bolts.
