View Full Version : Header bolt pattern (Coyote)

Unless I’m missing something stupid, I seem to have a serious problem. On the passenger side, the bolt pattern lines up fine between the engine block and the header. For lack of a better description, they go parallel/parallel in the bolt patterns, with the first two one way and the second two the other way. ( \ \ / / ) However, on the driver’s side, the block holes are machined perpendicular/perpendicular ( \ / \ / )
Anyone heard of this before? Seems to me that the solution would be to get a new header with a bolt pattern that matches my block.

This is the new pattern on the gen 4x coyote (and maybe the aluminator?) and has been known about for some time now. I think I saw someone makes an adapter (Forte?) for cases like this.

This is a brand new complete package from FFR-AT that is advertised as complete and ready to go. As a retail customer, it doesn't seem right that the onus falls on me to go to a third party for a a $200 “solution” that should have been addressed before shipment.
These things always seem to happen on the weekend.

Good to know as I might be doing the same engine/trans package. I’d def give FFR a call first to see if maybe they have headers for Gen4 and mistakenly sent the wrong ones

I would believe if you selected the Coyote option with your build your headers should be the correct bolt pattern. This sounds like a mistake to me.

I bought my Coyote kit from F5 before the Gen 4x was available, so my kit came with the Gen 3 headers. F5 exchanged the headers for the Gen 4 headers once they became available. I only covered return shipping. But in this case, since you bought the complete turnkey engine kit, they probably just sent the wrong headers. Just call them and I’m sure they’ll sort it out. Ive always found them good to work with.

As explained to you on FB they simply sent the wrong headers. Call them on Monday and they will make it right.

Mike. Thanks for input. As a new customer/member of the FFR community, I posted simultaneously on this forum and the FB both to gain information and kind of as an experiment to see which venue was
more informative and user friendly. I had no idea that gen 4 engines required different headers than gen3, or I would have been more engaged at the onset rather than rely on FFR to get it right.
I have no doubt that FFR will take care of my situation. They have always been terrific in that regard. However, this is the third time that a mistake has needed resolution and that has been frustrating to be honest. Mistakes that in their own words, never should have happened.
