Hey fellow builders,

I'm finishing up my current USRRC build, and in the process of checking my lighting I realized the kit supplied Headlight switch has no parking light position, just ON and OFF. Has anyone else come across this? I'm wondering if FFR sent me a switch for a different kit that isn't intended to have parking lights.

Thanks

Mike

Should have 3 detents; off/park/headlights.

Thanks Jeff!

Zackly what I thought. FFR techs never returned my email request for info on this, so posted it here. Guess I'll pick up the phone tomorrow and get the correct switch from FFR :)

The kit supplied headlight switch is a knock-off version of the very common GM D1588 (19245093) Headlamp Switch. I've found the quality to be a little lacking and order/use the genuine GM switch instead. I don't like to replace kit supplied parts, but I also don't like failures or having to replace them later and this is cheap insurance. The genuine GM switch is about $25 on Amazon. Doesn't come with the shaft or knob, but the one supplied with the kit switch fits.

I agree with edwardb. I have had 2 of the FFR switches fail so thereafter I purchased the GM switch. Seems like depending who you purchase the switch from, some come with the pull rod and knob some don't but they are all interchangeable with the FFR supplied switch. Actually, one of the FFR switches can with the connector lugs untapped and no screws!

Thanks Edwardb! I ordered the GM switch off Amazon for under $25 :)
