I am curious if anyone has done an actual measurement on the amount of carpet needed to finish a coupe. I am going with a custom carpet and trying to figure out an estimated yardage without emptying the box containing all the factory carpet and piecing it together to get a rough measurement. The carpet I will be purchasing is 70" wide and sold by the lineal yard. I am guessing I need 4.5 to 5 yards. Does this sound correct?

*edited to correct my numbers I plugged in incorrectly.

Factory Five could probably tell you quickly if you call them. They probably could give you a pretty precise number.

I understand that the car models have changed, but I did the same with my Gen I 20 years ago. I had a piece of carpet 9' wide x 12' long. If you like, I can send you the Excel spreadsheet that I did to map out the pieces, as follows:

Rear trunk including sides: 5'8" x 6'1" 3' x 5'8" piece to the right not used

Three pieces as follows:
Transmission tunnel including sides 5'1" x 3'1"
Passenger floor 4'9" x 2' 6"
Driver floor 4'9" x 2' 6" Small piece @ 9"w x 5'1" not used

Two pieces as follows
Footbox end & side 2' x 1' 3"
Footbox end & side 2' x 1' 3" piece to the right, 5' x 1' 3" not used

Hope this helps

Thanks, this is really helpful and obviously quite a bit more carpet than I was guessing. I will probably go old school and calculate total square inches of surface area, etc. Was just hoping others had already done the leg work.

I asked Dan at FFR a while back and he said 3 yards would do it.

I probably could have done it more efficiently. For instance, the two pieces for the footboxes could have been taken out of the 3' x 5' 8" piece unused, to the right of the trunk piece. This would bring the length down to about eleven feet from ten. It just happened that that was the size of the piece of carpeting that I had to work with. I had obtained the piece from a local carpet store and thought that I was pleased because it was dark green, matching the BRG exterior of the car. As it turns out, the carpet has faded over twenty years and I am not planning on going with FFR's package as a replacement.

Previous post should have said that I am now planning on going with FFR's package...

I did my own Gen 3 interior and used 5 yards. I had some waste but it was the perfect amount.
