Hello All!
I'm looking for some input on what people executed for heat shielding around the RH/LH foot boxes to manage the radiant heat from the headers.
I applied Cerakote to all the panels surrounding the powertrain as well as the pipes. Though its a great coating for heat resistance, I fear it may fall short around the foot space closest to the headers.
What materials have you tried, and did you get measured results that made this worth it?
Did the mastic layer hold up over time after several heat cycles?
I'm looking at a material much like this at the moment. I have bought this to install on all the interior sheet metal. I have not installed it yet, but will be in the future

Have Thermo Tec facing on all surfaces facing heat, its 10 years old with no maintenance. Inside on all cockpit surfaces used ReflectiX an attic insulation sandwich alloy/bubble wrap/alloy from Home Depot.

Tunnel was also covered inside & out.

I have kilmat under my carpet, but no other special heat shielding for the footboxes. Most of the hot air is coming from between the footbox and body if you don't have it sealed off appropriately. Huge difference between the heat when I was driving in gelcoat w/ some pool noodles stuffed in there and after I got it back from body/paint when Kleiner put the correct foam outside the footbox.

Agree plugging the various holes is a big deal in keeping the engine heat out

Thermo-Tec Cool-IT on all interior cockpit surfaces and sealed all the gaps where air can enter the cabin. I don't feel any heat getting in from the engine bay. I think some folks overengineer this part of their build.

Sealed up al of the gaps, Thermotec under the carpet, and Reflect-A-Gold on the panels on the engine side. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dei-010393
My wife rides in flip flops and says she doesn't feel a thing.

I drive in flip flops too! But that's mostly so I can quickly take off my right one when I get in. Hah!

We all know you just like to have it handy to throw at other motorists, Greg...

I installed LizardSkin. Easy to install after masking. I applied two coats to the interior panels and another two coats to the panels in the engine bay. It dried a flat black which I like and am leaving inside the engine bay. I read a lot of positive reviews before going this route.

Thanks for all the feedback! Based on this feedback, I'm likely going to leave the shielding off and spend the extra effort closing off gaps from the exterior body to structure. I'll most likely drive this vehicle in full gelcoat for a season to gauge sensitivity.
