In Florida for instance I think FFr is registered with the cobra only with the state and NHTSA. Blank MSOs can be bought online and anyone can stamp their info on it.
So are replica manufacturers, RCR, FFR etc just registered businesses making their own MSOs? I can’t imagine theyre registering with every state? What about other replica manufacturers from overseas?

Sounds like you need to make a call to FFR to get their answers.

My car is registered. Just curious how all these other manufacturers do it.

I understand that. I'm saying you have questions they could answer for you, likely better than anyone on this forum.

Details on how it's done can be found at the attached url:

My 33 Speedstar came with a "Certificate of Origin". The FFR chassis number was on the CoC with a statement that it WAS NOT a VIN. When I applied for a VIN the State Police looked at my paperwork and stamped the CoC with the state issued VIN. When I went to the DMV they registered the car as it appeared on the CoC.
yr: 1933
Mfg: FFR
Model: coupe
The CoC looks very similar to the CoC the dealer gives you when you buy a new car. The paper has anti tamper features to prevent it from being copied.
Couple of weeks after it was registered the title came with the same info and in the BRANDING box on the title it is listed as a REPLICA.

Not much helpful info on that.
The MSO can be purchased online and any information you want added to it. I’m going to assume with FFR the serial number is just there number of cars built, I can’t remember what mine is. In Florida they used that as my VIN.
So it seems like the MSO is really nothing more than a bill of sale or certificate of authenticity. Really all thats required is the “manufacturer” I assume you have to be a registered business in the state with a business tax receipt. Then the type of car, weight, a few other details.
*** no deceptive practices going on, just trying to figure out a possible business move with producing a different car.

FFR stamps the number listed on the MSO/MCO on to their frames, most, but not all states recognize the format and use it to initially title the car.

Go buy a $400 trailer from Harbor Freight and you'll get a nice little MSO that looks like it came from the internet/China, so yeah it must be pretty generic form that doesn't have much "backing".
