Just wanted to share a close call we had today and perhaps save someone else from the same situation.

After a great afternoon out in the car site seeing and enjoying the PNW weather we returned to the car only to find it wouldn’t start. Totally dead. After a few minutes and some head scratching it turned out to be a dead Guard Dawg key fob! No prior warning, nothing just dead. Miles from any stores and ready to call a tow truck (50 miles from home) the wife says…. I have the remote for the other car. Maybe the batteries are the same? They weren't but I was able to wedge the new battery in just right and get the DGD to wake up and start. Whew, crisis averted! I’ll be keeping a spare battery in the car from now on.

Close call. Don't you have the emergency start card that DGD provided with your unit? It provides a pushbutton sequence that bypasses the need for the keyfob. I've also decided to keep mine in Manual versus Automatic modes. So I have to push the button on the keyfob to start. But I found the automatic setting detects the keyfob from too far away plus in general drains the battery more quickly.

Besides keeping it in manual like Paul said, I have the Marine version in my car and it also allows you to use a 4 digit pin with the start button to start the engine. As long as you remember the number you dint even need the key fob.
