New to the group and in line for a Type 65 anniversary coupe. Of course, I’m chomping at the bit to begin the build, but have travel lined up in the fall and FF has agreed to hold my kit until I return in December. In the interim, I’m combing the posts, threads and You tube videos to learn everything I can. Torture!! So, the age-old question arises regarding engine selection (sorry, I know this has been covered ad nauseum in other threads). I get the new vs old look, the hp comparisons, costs, and other pros/cons you all have highlighted. Coming from a different angle, in light of me being a rookie / first time builder - Blueprint stroker vs coyote. Is the install and wiring of the coyote much more complex than a 347 or 427 engine? And, noise-wise, with the “new” anniversary side pipes, would one or the other be less “neighbor friendly”?

Thank you for any advice,
Craig

Welcome to the forum, I'm going to the build school soon and planning a MK5 build right after that.
I asked the same question about wiring a few months ago and the regulars like EdwardB told me the Coyote isn't bad to wire as it has all the factory connectors from the engine to the computer.
I believe he said there are only 4 wires from the wiring harness that go to the engine.

I'm leaning towards the Coyote myself.
I have ridden in two MK4's that forum members JMD and GBranham who live near me and have graciously given me the opportunity to ride along.
JMD built a really nice car with a Blueprint 302 with Sniper fuel injection prepped by Forte. I was shocked at how quick it was ! It just hooks up and goes !
Gbranham's car is a Ford Performance short block with good heads and Edelbrock fuel injection. Starts and runs beautifully and the power is unbelievable !
I haven't had the opportunity to ride in a Coyote powered car yet but another local forum member Kirby has a Coyote powered MK4 that he has also offered me a ride in too.

I understand the looks department, the small block Fords just look right under the hood.
The other part of me says I'm not driving with my hood up so it really doesn't matter and I really don't care what people at a car show might say.
I seem to change my mind on engines on a daily basis, lol.
I don't think you can go wrong no matter what you choose as a power plant, I could easily live with a nice 302 after riding in one.

Welcome to the forum. Good to have another North FLA person on here. I went with the SBF in my 289 for the look (except for the lack of 4 Weber carbs), but if I was building a Coupe in the future I’d probably choose the Coyote. I think you’ll find enough help on this forum to get you through any Coyote-unique issues you’ll encounter. Best of luck whatever you choose.

Hi Craig,

Welcome to the fun! We're building a Type 65 and have a Gen 3 Coyote sitting in the garage that we chose for several reasons.

1) It sounds like inspection will be easier on a motor with an OBDII Port. We'll see when the time comes if that's true.
2) We don't really care about looks, we're not going for authenticity or trying to win any car shows.
3) We're focusing more on the aesthetics for making our build unique and decided not to stray off the path mechanically. There have been plenty of Coyote builds, and it seems like a great package.

I think it's hard to go wrong with whatever you choose.
Good luck!
Jon

Craig,

I’m in SWFL, Port Charlotte and i am a professional builder. I’ll have a 30th coupe in the shop in mid October if you have time and want to stop by.

Thanks for the invite! I’ll be away during that time, maybe I can catch up upon my return. I’ll reach out to you then.
