Hello folks - Just wanted to pass it along in case this is helpful to anyone else. With the help of conversations with other local builders, I just completed the registration process for my MK4 in Dekalb County Georgia, which is one of the emissions counties. It was actually not that complex / tedious to do, but there were some specific things that were helpful to know going into it, and some things to be aware of and avoid doing.

I live in Pickens County GA that does not require emission inspection, but I went thru the knot-hole pull of getting a VIN from the State of GA DOR MVD folks down by the airport. The first lady said my paperwork was incomplete because I didn’t have the ‘Lost VIN’ form. I explained that I actually didn’t have a lost VIN and was why I was there to begin with, but no, I needed that form (your state gov’ment bureaucracy hard at work). Her super was no help. Ended up submitting my application via mail which worked three weeks later.

Congrats on getting it registered! I'll be reaching out, since I live in Gwinnett County. I was really hoping to figure out a way to get it titled in GA, but that seems impossible.
