I had the driver side wiper fail on me, the gear in the wiper gear box that clamps on the cable is skipping. Not sure if this is fixable and I have not taken it appart yet. It looks like a MG A part that I can get from Moss Motors, can anyone confirm this for me please
thanks

Hi David,

I don't have anything to add...but I am interested if you confirm the part (and number) is for an MGA ;)

The wiper kit I bought for my MK3 was from F5. I did end up replacing both wheel boxes because the ones that came with the kit were bad (said in a nice way). The replacements I bought were from the old ********** company when they were still in Florida.
The part numbers that were stamp on the replacements were from Lucas, LAP England – 72879A 2WB and the numbers that followed seemed to be manufacturing dates. You could plug this number in a search and come up with a vendor to buy from and use this part number as a reference.
Big difference in quality and they worked well for this type of design. Wherever you buy from, it should include Morris in the car types. These wheel boxes have a smaller diameter keyed shaft for the wiper arm.

Hope this helps.

Hi David. I replaced mine for the same reason a number of years ago. I bought from the company whose name we don't speak. The wiper boxes were a welcome change with much more of a positive lock on the cable - since installing they have had a few workouts with no issues at all. The company link Papa posted seems like a great alternative.

Thanks Papa for the link and Geoff, just ordered 2 ... if one died the other will go soon.
We just got back from a 7 day 2000 mile tour of the mountains and 4 or 5 hours in rain with no wipers was not fun. Rain X helps but not the same. At least in the Coupe we were drier than in the Mkll with the early style roof.
