As I am finishing my passenger door/body fitting, gapping and filling, and I am about to move to the driver's side. I have a question about the 2 screws/bolts on each rocker that attach the body to the frame underneath. These are the ones that need to be used to get the doors and body mated properly to each other. On my car, neither side has the front holes, it only has the ones behind the doors on each side. For the passenger door that I have been working on, I simply pushed the body in as everyone suggested, then I chose to use really good duct tape to hold it in place for now. I have been gapping, fitting, and filling since without an issue, but the body position is temporary until a screw/bolt is installed. From what I have read, many tap the frame to 1/4-20, and slot the mounting hole in the body so there is movement for adjusting the body. That's what I plan to do. Now that I am about to go to the driver's side, which is more involved and requires the front to be in and the rear to be out per all posts I have read, I want to get both sides drilled and slotted properly in the front. Where should the front hole/slot go on my MK4? I have watched some videos/posts of other people's builds, and the location is a little varied. Some put it in line with the front door opening on the body, some a little more forward, and some have it in front of the side pipe hanger that protrudes out from the body. Any guidance as to the proper, or generally accepted location, would be appreciated.
