Lower rear corner of door issues. I know much has been written on the subject, but here is more. I have on door that the lower adjustment is still out, however the top is in. I can place a 3/8 rubber bumper (provided with the kit) in the upper corner and the problem goes away on both the top and bottom.

Short of doing the "Pie cuts" what else have people done?

Possible solution:
1) mount the rubber bumper on the upper corner of the door permanently. The door easily twists/pivots on the latch striker when closed. The results is perfect alignment both top and bottom.
2) move the lower adjustment bolt outward. (has anyone tried this?)

217120 as I have indicated here.

Would this allow more adjustment?

Thanks

Howdy Guardm16:

I believe I am the originator of the pie cut bottom of doors circa 2021.

I like your idea, and if it doesn’t work it’s quite easy to find some kind of flush button type of thing to fill the hole in a way no-one will ever question it. Do post the results if you try it…I’m curious.

The only concern I have with your potential method is it may impose an angle to the window glass and could make it slow to open or close. Easy enough to simply remove that bolt and jam something in there to force the new position and try the window operation.

Cheers,
Pat

Thanks Pat, I have been out a few days with a minor medical procedure, but heading back to the garage tonight. I was thinking what do you think about inducing a twist into the main bar were the two pieces bolt together? I thought some shims on the top side of the bolts would turn the bottom of the latch plate inward. I'll play with that tonight before I drill any holes.

Here's what worked for me:

1) Loosen the two big carriage bolts.

2) Have a friend twist the door.

3) Tighten the carriage bolts while friend continues to twist door.

4) Check fit and repeat as necessary.

5) Have a beer to celebrate.
