I want to try and make my own drop trunk for my MKIV build but I can't find the aluminum locally. Anybody have recommendations for a online distributor I can purchase from?

x2 for onlinemetals. 6061 T6 in 0.040" thickness is a match for what F5 uses for their aluminum panels. I made my drop trunk out of this, and it's plenty stiff.

I love me some McMaster-Carr. But DO NOT order metal from them. Shipping costs a fortune, and you don't get to see what the charge is before you order. I ordered a piece of AL and shipping was more than the panel.

Onlinemetals is good.

I ordered mine from eBay at the time. I looked up my purchase history and it was about $40 delivered two years ago. That was for .040" x 24" x 36" 6061-T6. I was careful cutting the floor and used it for the dropped floor, as I guess most folks do, so the piece I got was for the walls of the drop. I see a listing for that same stuff at about $20 more now on eBay. Not sure how that compares to other sources. I agree, I love McMaster, and we use them a lot in our family business, but some things are not good to get from them. Not sure who did their search and 3D modeled parts, but McMaster is hard to beat for searching and design models.
