Hello All
Being new to the forum I figured I should introduce myself. My name is Rob Hartley I am from Port Moody, a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia Canada. In my youth I always worked on cars, its what you did back then, I was always rebuilding something on my 74 Capri and then my VW GTI... I retired a couple of years back and have always wanted to build a Cobra replica, about 15 years ago I tried to convince my oldest son (16 years old at the time) to do it with me and he wasn't interested (he now says he kicks himself for saying that :-) ). So now my two sons (aged 26 and 31) and I are attending the Build School October 17, after which I plan to put the order in for my Mk5. Both boys are over the moon with the idea and can't wait to get started (they both wrench on their trucks). After the build school I was thinking of extending the trip over to Factory Five, my question to the group: After going to the build school, how much more will you glean from a visit to the Factory Five facility?

Welcome aboard! I can't answer your last question as I have not been but I am assuming there is some value in seeing the real thing, sitting in one and getting a feel for what they are like.

As Tim mentioned, I too think it is a good idea to see as many of these cars built as possible. You can get many ideas of different ways to route, the brake lines, fuel, lines, and other parts of the build that very with each owner, plus it’s just a lot of fun to go see where your car is made! I say go for it!

Tim and David, thank you for this, I may just have to arrange to fly there from Mott Community College to check it out after the build school.
