Installing the power windows and running the wires though the door into the cab - do the wires just hang there? seems they are going to get pulled or smashed or something - doesn't look right for them to just "go through the door" and be exposed.

Look for door jam wiring boots that will mount between the doors and the body. Something like these:

I got these ones on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/SSN-Compatible-Street-Truck-Black/dp/B0CR68XQ6L?th=1

They seem to be real nice quality. I've not installed them yet, but should work for me (Coupe). They sell ones that look exactly the same on Summit for 4x more

Jim - can those be shortened? I couldn't quite tell from the Amazon description and maybe 12" is just right. I will need some for the door solenoid wiring I will be installing but I removed my body so long ago and don't even know what the jam area looks like.

Tim, I could be wrong, but it looks like the loom is designed to slide in and out through the bushing on one end as the door opens and closes.

I don’t know if there is enough room in the door or door jamb for that to happen or not.

One end slides and the other is fixed. I'm a long way from fitting the doors, but they can definitely be cut. There's just a rubber cap on the end and the tube is just a braided stainless hose

On my truck build, I did something like the commercial versions here but DIY. I put some thick triple wall shrink sleeving (the kind with the adhesive inside) around the wires where they would be exposed. Put grommets in the door edges and the door openings on the body. Fixed the wires in the door and allowed the sleeved wires to slide on the body side. Worked fine.

I'm also going to use the 12 inch item shown on Amazon. This will also act as the door check in place of the leather strap. I have them already and they are flexible so no issue fitting into the door. My doors are hung but I have not installed windows yet.

That's what kind of concerns me. Looks like they could keep the door from closing. Let me know when you have them installed.

The fixed end is on the cab. You mount it below the window assembly so it pushes into the door below the window. The door frame has several large holes in the metal. I was going to use one of those.

I have seen a lot of street rods use contacts similar to these:

No wiring to get in the way but the door needs to be closed for power to get into the door.
