Any body use Jet Hot Coating on their headers and side pipes. If so, what is your thoughts on value and performance, and is there any notable reduction in heat. I'm building my first roadster and looking for some input, Thanks

I had polished stainless headers and sidepipes and they were gorgeous. Key word here being were, heat discolored them especially the headers. Had them ceramic coated, they look great and have never changed. They are noticeable cooler, I measured the temperature difference but can't remember what it was.

Do it is al I can say.

I just sent my brand new headers to Jet-Hot. Like Mike, my stainless headers on my Cobra are discolored and I decided to coat the headers for my Coupe build. I'm still waiting for them to come back so I can see what they look like. It is pricy at almost $600, but the headers on the Coupe will be pretty visible when the nose is up and I want them to look good. I did not coat the pipes, but Compound 302 has kept my Cobra pipes looking good.

I found Hot-Jet to be by a pretty wide margin the most expensive coating available to me. I used a local PC shop and they ceramic coated them for me. They looked great and held up well. I have no doubt Hot-Jet does a great job but there are significantly less expensive options if you care about that sort of thing.

Jet Hot is expensive by any standards, as you also have to pay for shipping and insurance, which isn't cheap either. Hard to find ceramic coaters as the ovens need to be 800 degrees, which is double what powder coaters use. I'm sure Jet Hot does a great job but well worth it if you can find someone local. Mine coated both inside and out with a very nice Satin finish. As Mike said, the pipes are noticeably cooler with possibly less 'snake bites'.

Can you get them ceramic coated but still keep the shiny look?

I got my side pipes ceramic coated flat black (not by Jet Hot) and they seem to stay right around 225 (at the front) and 325 degrees (middle part). (I measure them with a temp gun occasionally after a drive.) Hot enough to hurt if you press skin up against it but not so hot that it's an instant 3rd degree burn. I left my headers plain stainless and they're turning blue but I think it looks kind of neat and underhood temps aren't crazy high so I'm just going to leave them for now. I'm not sure what temps uncoated or polished stainless sidepipes usually run. Anyone else happen to know?

I had my SS304 headers coated in black by Calico Coatings. They have black for a higher temp rating and silver for a lower but still applicable coating temp. These were similar to FFR headers in size. The price was about $300. Looks great and about three weeks turn around.

Yes, they can clear over any color for additional sheen

I had mine done by Jet Hot and no it wasn't cheap but I figured I was already this far in so why not :)
I got them done in a "chrome" ceramic coat and they turned out really nice.
I've put 1600 miles on the car and so far they look like the day I put them on.

My first set of side pipes were Jet Hot, the second set are clear ceramic over discolored bare metal (I like the look). Both are hot enough to burn your leg or melt your car cover if you put it on too soon...
