I was invited to the BaT event at the Elkhart Lake vintage races yesterday. I took my AC replica to display.
We attended the race car concours downtown Friday night which is a high point of the weekend for me. Visualize 8PM and the announcement to start 116 race engines for return to the track. Like being on a starting grid. Yeah some "exhibitions of speed".
Saturday I checked and detailed my car in the rain, which cleared-up during the 77 mile drive.
The BaT celebration took over the Motorplex (go cart track) on the west side of the facility adjacent to turn 8 and the "Kink". There were 300 to 400 guest cars and I estimate BaT served 1000+ bratwurst buffet meals. Distracted by the racing and race paddock, I did not review all the BaT guest cars; I think mine was the only Cobra. There was one CSX 4000 (fiberglass) continuation Cobra racing, several GT40s, and a Ford GT LeMans car.
My buddy Chris Beebe and I sought-out the Ferrari 330 P4 which turned out to be an RCR car with a Ferrari 550 V12 engine. Chris has an RCR P4 in process.
Walking the length and width of the 4.2 mile track is physical, I logged ~15,000 steps on my fitness tracker.
