View Full Version : Temp sensitive headlight switch?

MK4, RF harness, wiring per the manual, Breeze LED headlight kit. All wiring throughout is soldered / shrink wrapped.
At about 3K miles, the headlights began to cycle off / on every second or two. This regardless of motor running or ign off. (I always run with headlights on.)
Coincidentally, the hi-beam LED on the dash will flash quite dimly as if there is a low voltage bleed headed to that LED (it is full on bright when the hi/lo switch is set to high).
From what I can tell, the only component that has any internal 'hidden' circuitry is the headlight switch. All other headlight wiring is straigh hard via the various harness connectors.
Am I most likely looking at a defective/heat sensitive headlight switch? Has anyone else experienced this symptom?

Thanks,
Art

I would try a new switch or unplug it and connect the positive feed on the connector to the feed wire for the head lights and see if the problem goes away.

Sounds like a bad switch. They have a self resetting internal circuit breaker. Your LED lights should actually be drawing less amperage than conventional incandescents so unless you have added something to the circuit that’s creating additional draw I think the circuit breaker is faulty.
