I was hoping to post this in a more general forum but didn't see any place, so since I'm building a Roadster I thought I'd at least share it with you all.

I recently needed to send my Holley Sniper back to Holley for service. They did whatever they needed to do tested it and sent it back. When I reinstalled it and turned the key to accessory the handheld initialized but the fuel pump didn't trigger. So a few notes.

1.) My config was deleted from the ECU
2.) My handheld could not longer update the ECU

The fix was not hard. I just needed to download the latest updates to the SD Card from Holley and update the ECU Firmware. I also then ran the config wizard again. But Holley did not tell me they flashed my ECU to work with their test setup and that my file would be deleted.

So I just thought I would share with everyone. If you need to send you Sniper in I suggest you save off you config file and when you get the Sniper back update your software, restore your file, and firmware right away.

Hope your Sniper fix works out..
Further to your post. Totally agree/recommend saving your current engine tune values before sending a carb in or making changes. Holley has downloadable Sniper software on the handheld SD card if you have the Sniper 2, I'm sure there is a way to download from the Sniper 1 as well.

I had some issues with my sniper 1 as well, Idle surge and stumble returning to idle from higher RPM. My mechanic couldn't seem to resolve the stumble and surge, I contacted Holley and upgraded to a sniper 2. It's a little daunting but I'm going to read up on how to adjust the tune myself past "basic Tune", as oppose to paying for someone to do it. Saving the original tune is the safety net..

There are lots of great resources online for learning to use the Sniper tuning software. If you have a good understanding of how an engine operates and what it needs you can get a lot out of reading the Sniper Tuning and Log View Software User Manual, downloadable from the Holley website. I spent a couple of hours going through it with the EFI software in front of me to get familiar with the interface and it was very helpful. The Holley Sniper forum is a great place to research and ask questions as well. After a week of deep diving into it all and learning how to record data logs and analyze them I feel confident in tuning my car and being able to troubleshoot any issues. I had a high idle once the engine got up to temp that I was able to fix with the help of these online resources. EFIsystempro.com is also a great resource with a number of tutorials and tips on how to tune some common issues with the Sniper.

Once you learn how to create and save tunes, make backup tunes and tweak the settings on your EFI it's pretty incredible what it can do. Do it long enough and you will be able to recreate the tune from memory, or keep backups and records every time you make a change and you won't get completely lost in the weeds.

Yes I downloaded the software for my laptop and got a data cable. Once I get through first start and some go-karting I'll start to dig in to tuning. I also joined a decent FB group with some knowledgeable people on there. EFI & Holley Sniper 4150-4500

I hit the easy button and went the ProFlo4 route. No tuning required. It does it all and runs perfectly.
