Well gents it’s been many months since my last post but I (like many others) got the itch to start a new project and recently pulled the trigger on one of the 30th anniversary coupes. My last build was a Mk4 base kit with a donor drivetrain but ended up going with a lot of new parts in the end, including supercharging the 4.6 DOHC to get a little more power out of it. This build will be a little less budget friendly and basing a lot of options and tweaks off some of the staples (edwardb) on the forum. I plan to build this one a little slower and enjoy the process more and not rush to the end (last one was 6-7 months build + 4 months in paint). As fun as it is to drive these I’ve discovered I enjoyed the actual build process equally if not more than getting behind the wheel.
Here’s my basic build plan but I am sure alternates and additions will follow.
Current order and options selected
30th coupe complete kit ( a lot of options built into the 30th edition)
IRS
Power steering complete kit
A/c heat
Gen coyote 3 / 4 install kit
Coyote headers
Windshield wiper kit
Drive train will be Coyote gen 3 or 4 (probably from fortes unless I stumble on a sweet deal like Paul with his aluminator) and tkx trans.
Body i am considering the carbon fiber option but will wont make that decision until they release pricing to see how much that mighty offset paint / body.
Looking forward to jumping back in on the forum and catching up with others builds. I don’t post as much as others but will try to do better about updates along the way and welcome any advice and suggestions along the way as that helped tremendously on the first build. On that note I will be considering selling the Mk4 if anyone knows someone looking. I will likely list on BAT at some point but have attached a quick walk around of how it turned out when she was completed.
