The new TKX from Blueprint instructions indicate the tranny is shipped with no oil. The recommended oil is Tremec HP MTF, 5.71 pints.
I have searched for this oil and cannot find it. Is this a generic designation or is there really a Tremec branded oil.
Or, what are you guys using?
Thanks, Ralph

I found it by doing a Google search. I was looking on my old standby of Amazon, and they evidently don't carry it.
Thanks anyway. Ralph
Or you can comment is you have some suggestions.
Mike Forte ships the TKX with Pennzoil Syncromesh.

TREMEC TKX transmissions use the Dexron III or Dexron III/Mercon Spec ATF fluid. Several options that keep coming up in my searches besides the Tremec MTF are Pennzoil Synchromesh, Dexron III/Mercon ATF (non-synthetic), and Mobil 1 ATF with Silver Sport Transmissions recommending using the ATF fluid for break in and the TREMEC or Pennzoil thereafter.
I got mine from Forte with Pennzoil Synchromesh, just like OB6. It seems to work just fine.

Copied from the Tremec TKX manual
Lubrication Specifications
For all TKX 5-speed models, TREMEC recommends TREMEC High Performance Manual Transmission Fluid
(HP-MTF™), Dexron-III, GM Synchromesh™, Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF, or Pennzoil® Synchromesh. Fluid capacity
is 2.7 quart / 2.6 liter.

Dexron III or Dexron III/Mercon Spec ATF fluid, This is the same fluid used in a T5, buy it in ANY parts store or even Walmart.

Not a TKX but a TKO-600, 2004 vintage w/ Liberty mods.
Ran Dexron, Royal Purple Syncro-Max, Cobra Valley Ultra-Shift and probably some others. Settled on Redline MTL for probably 20k miles. Will run it again.

Some people thought the trans (TKOs) shifted better at 1/4-1/2 qt low. YMMV.

This meets all the specs recommended by Tremec. I use this in my TKO500. It improved shift quality and no more gear rattle hot or cold.
Not to hack the thread, however, can you drain/fill the tranny without going from the upper tunnel cover? Running a TKO500

Yes, there is a drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug on the side.

I just installed my TKX. I spent a great deal of time researching the fluid question and the overall consensus I found was to use Dex3/Merc as a break-in fluid for 500 miles, then drain and replace with Synchronesh.
So, I have mine loaded with Dex right now, and I have the Sychro on the shelf for when I need it.
