After struggling for over an hour I finally just quit and come back an hour later and started over. Knowing that my runout is at.024 I'm confident that it's right after checking it several different ways and come up with the same results within a couple thousands. So I now try again I'm able to get transmission in all the way in to where transmission meets bellhousing and it actually started but unable to get it fully up tight it kept falling out of bellhousing. I'm very confident that its in clutch and is able to start in the pilot bearing because alignment tool goes in perfect with no hesitation. Plan B removed it again took a scotch bright pad and cleaned inside diameter of bellhousing and outer side of transmission surface and made sure all surfaces had no imperfections then applied a thin la of antiseize around transmission and bellhousing surfaces and give it one more try well it went much further this time within 1/4" but unable to get all the way in tried wiggling but it would just come back out. I tried this again but this time I threaded the bolts in hand tight then wiggling it it eventually went in as each time it moved in I hand tighten the bolts to keep it from backing out and after 2 hours of cussing it's finally together. 215412 So my question is has everyone else have this same struggle and what could I have done differently?

I fought mine, then had the epiphany to disengage the clutch with a ratchet strap on the clutch fork, and it went right in.

You can use a large C clamp to hold the arm back as well. I used threaded rod to guide the transmission in while on the trans jack.

Two things to do.

When tightening the pressure plate bolts hold the clutch alignment tool so that it doesn't droop down with gravity. A metal clutch alignment tool is better than plastic but either will work.

Second, thread two pieces of 7/16 all thread into the bellhousing and use nuts to draw the transmission into the seated position. It takes surprisingly little effort when tightening nuts on the all thread but trying to seat it by hand can be very difficult as you're seen.
