I bought an F150 with the specific goal of building the XTF. With the release of the stage 1, I'm left wondering which version to go with. To help with my decision, I had some questions:

My suspension needs several soft parts replaced (bushings mainly). Does the stage 1 reuse any soft parts or are they all replaced?
A buddy of mine bought another guy aftermarket body kit. He said replacing body panels on the F150 is not simple. Is the process really bad with the stage 1?
Can you use the larger fuel tank with the stage 1?
Do aftermarket headers fit on the full kit? Anything not fit on the full kit that would fit on the stage 1?
Anyone have target groups for each kit? I like off-roading but I am not a super enthusiast. I want to go on trails, splash in the mud, and (if I'm feeling froggy) try getting a bit of air under her. I have seen Raptors do well with the OEM chassis which makes me wonder if it is "good enough" for my purposes.

I appreciate your feedback!

Before buying my XTF full kit I visited FFR to see both kits. I asked a ton of questions about the full kit and the stage 1. My original plan was getting the stage 1. After taking a ride on the full XTF my plans changed.

I might be able to answer a few of your questions but I don’t remember all the details on the stage 1. I’m sure someone from FFR will see your post soon and answer your questions.

What I can say is that the full kit isn’t that much more expensive than the stage one. Full kit is $25k stage one $10k. At first one would think “not that much? Its $15k more” the amount of parts that you have leftover can be sold to make up for the price difference.
I posted parts in facebook’s marketplace place. Within days I had sold the following:
Bumpers, tailgate, bed, front fenders, headlights and a few miscellaneous parts.

Bumpers tailgate and bed are quite expensive and high demand items.
I have sold around $8k worth of parts and still have around $6k worth of parts left. Wheels are spoken for at $1,200 but I’m using them to move the truck as they aren’t as heavy as the 37’s that will be used in the truck.
Still have the hood $900, chassis $2k (had a few buyers already for the chassis but chassis has a serial number. I have to go to my local police stolen vehicles division to notify the chassis change and get a release document that allows me to sell the stock chassis), front grill, leaf springs, control arms etc.

The stage 1 is an excellent quick project that can be done in one or two weekends. The full kit takes more work but if you enjoy building stuff the full kit is the way to go. You end up with a more capable truck for not much more money after selling the parts.

Either way you end up with an amazing looking and performing truck.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the response. What would you say you will use your XTF to do?

I also appreciate the idea to sell parts. I hadn't even considered that at all. Though it makes total sense. Chassis is the only one I'm wondering how it works since you'll be registering the truck under the same VIN.

I appreciate the feedback.

My XTF will be used 95% of the time on the road. The XTF it’s extremely capable off road but is as capable on the road. This isn’t the average lifted truck. The average lifted truck feels top heavy and not well balanced. Not the XTF, since it’s suspension was designed for that ride height and with the correct geometry it behaves like a factory truck. Maybe even better. Definitely WAY better than the factory F150 suspension. When I took a ride on Dave’s red XTF he went around factory five’s parking lot pushing the truck quite hard and it felt solidly planted on the road. Never felt like the rear wheels wanted to step out on us. And he was pushing it hard.
The 5% mine might go off road it will be dirt roads but avoiding mud as much as possible. I’m extremely lazy when it comes to car cleaning. Mud gets everywhere.

On the chassis serial number it’s my understanding that the VIN isn’t stamped on the chassis just on the cab. The chassis has its own serial number just like the engines. Then those serial numbers are linked to the VIN on the vehicle. If the truck gets stolen, the VIN on the cab and serial numbers on the chassis and engine also gets flagged as stolen. I’m not a 100% on the previous info but that is what I was told by the police officer when I inquired about selling the chassis. They would “unlink” that chassis number from my VIN and link the XTFs chassis serial number to it. Will know for sure when I take the XTF to them to do that.
I took a look at my chassis and never found the VIN on it. Just this number pictured here. So, what he said might be accurate.

Called the police officer again today to confirm the serial number info. He cleared it up. The VIN is stamped on the frame. It’s only the last 8 digits of the VIN. Went to my frame and there it is. On the 4 door F150 is located under the passenger side doors. On top of the frame rail facing the cab. You would need a mirror to see it with the cab installed on the frame.
