Maybe this will help somebody else...
My car is based on a ’06 Sti; during the build I encountered the codes and limp mode from too much throttle movement. No problem after adding a pedal travel stop. Props to Bob_n_Cincy...
Till first track day this year. Then I became “that guy” that black flags the session while I get towed back to the pit.
At first I thought the engine had died; then realized it was idling but no response from the throttle. Had never seen this before.
After enduring the ignominy of returning to the pits at the end of a tow strap, I tried it and it cranked and throttle worked. Cleared the code and drove the rest of the day. (sorta gently on the throttle)
I didn’t know this was a mode, just no throttle at all; I thought pedal errors put it in limp mode. Anyway, found a guy on Youtube investigating it with a nice diagnostic tool that showed traces of both circuits in the throttle position sensor. Someone commented that the hashiness of the traces indicates the problem. On rare occasion they can disagree enough to get that P2138 Circuit D and E disagreement error.
Got a new pedal assy from Subaru and haven’t seen any problems. But it only happened once so we’ll see.
