I am starting wiring my Gen 1 Coyote in my Roadster and I have the newer control pack from Ford racing, M-6017-A504VB. The manual calls for a speed dial but everything I have been told is that speed dial is not needed for the newer controller. Has anyone set one up and can give me some guidance?
I have TKX trans and it has the speedometer output, not sure if any of those wires need to be connected to the VSS Signal In or VPWR7 Speed Dial wires on the control pack?
Hopefully i'm not the only one installing a Gen 1 Coyote with newer controller. lol

I thought the control packs were specific to the Coyote generation, but I could easily be wrong about that. I just thought a Gen 1 control pack was needed for a Gen 1 motor, etc. I'm sure others with more knowledge on the compatibility can chime in here.

Yes they are specific to the Coyote generation but Ford came out with a newer one for Gen1.
These are the two versions for Gen1, Ford Performance M-6017-A504VA (Version 1) and Ford Performance M-6017-A504VB (Version 2). Version 2 is what is available now and what I bought.

I thought the newer one had pigtail wiring for the Speed dial but not actually installed.

I have a Gen1 in go-cart stage. I used a Gen1 control pack from Power By the Hour purchased in 2022. It does not use a speed dial and everything seems to be working fine.
I think there were some old forum posts that detailed the changes that eliminated the need for the speed dial. However at my age I often can’t remember why I walked into this room so I can’t help with specific references. :-/
Not much help here (sorry) but at least I can confirm that the speed dial has been eliminated in some of the updated Gen1 applications.

Yes there are wired but you can’t even buy a speed dial anymore.
