289 hood scoop grill

As I add rage, sand off rage, repeat, I've managed to get the the hood portion of the joy and was wondering what you guys did about the scoop grill.

I've cut away the excess fiberglass and have started to get the bodywork done. I'm thinking of HSRFing in the grill.

Anyone have photos of how they went at it?

I presume you want the old school FIA type grille look, the sheet metal with round holes?

HSRF should have the strength you'd need but it might be a lot of work to clean it up before paint. If you put filler over it then sand, I wonder if eventually any flexing may cause it to crack? What are he edges of the scoop like? A portion of the edges bent back for attachment points to the hood?
