I think the standard FFR seats need to sit slightly angled, especially if they're on sliders. I have Intatrim Stonesleigh seats on the Breeze mounts, and I'm trying to settle on their final position. This is a picture of them slightly angled, which aligns better with the steering wheel and footboxes, but looks a little off. I know it's a matter of choice, with a couple constraints. I'd prefer to do this once. :)

What did you choose to do?

seats are parallel to the trans tunnel wall, so not square w/ the steering wheel/dash.
I positioned the DS to be most comfortable then put the PS seat in to mirror the DS.
Pay attention to the outside arm as it relates to the door. If the seat is too far to the door, it'll dig into your arm while driving.

Hi Terry,

The first time I saw previous builders position the seats in the Roadster at an angle, I questioned it, but it makes more sense to me now that I see the limitations involved with my own build. I'm not "there" yet, but plan to slightly angle my seats to maximize the limited lateral space, and as Chewy said, to be comfortable ;)

Just fitting my seats now and yes they have to be angled but no, after about 10 minutes of sitting there making car noises I didn't even notice it anymore.

I have the same seats. Because they are super skinny, you can get away with not following the trans tunnel and have them straighter. I'm not sure I have a picture of mine mounted. I made my own mounts out of square stock and mounted sliders to them. I'm short, 5'6", so I used 2" square stock like a booster seat. :cool:

Not sure it matters, but I ordered the "big/fat" seats :) Not sure if that makes a difference...

I used the factory seats so I had to install them parallel to the tunnel and cheat to the inside to clear the door handle on the seat back. I made my own seat slider supports and used the FFR tracks.

Mine are slightly angled. Mostly noticeable when you view from the side of the car across both seats but all good.

Can't the seats be parallel with the centerline of the car (square to the dashboard), but have the seat tracks slightly angled approx. parallel to the tunnel side walls?
The total sliding range doesn't have to be that far... won't the cockpit and seat fit-up accommodate that? I'm not there yet in the build.

Yes, this is what Jeff Kleiner noted in another thread. Most of the builders try out what seems comfortable and this often means aligning the hips/torso to the steering wheel and footboxes. It is a personal choice influenced by many factors and constraints...

Do whatever is comfortable for you. Depending on seat width and whether it has shoulder wings like the Kirkeys and noting clearance to the door latch handle just move them around. I drove mine for quite a few test drives w/ the seat held in place w/ blocks of wood. Some of the blocks were actually 3/8" to 1/2" pieces of plywood to fine tune seat tilt back. I promise you, almost no matter the angle you end up with, you will not notice it after 3-4 hours driving. That was actually a surprise to me.

Saw your setup in another post recently and wasn't 100% sure what the logic was. Is this setup so the seat is roughly aligned to the dash and steering wheel, and will slide parallel to the tunnel?

With high-backed seats you can squeeze the wings a bit to give you a better angle. I used a cargo strap and monster rubber hammer to tweak the wings.

I’m looking at the same seats. Can you tell me if they are comfortable?
I tend to need some lumbar and they said they don’t add any.
Also, why did you go with the Breeze seat mounts and not just the Intatrim supplied sliders? (Sorry Mark)

I have the big’n tall FFR seats and after making several adjustments find they’re simply too uncomfortable and I (and my wife) would really like a headrest
