So my Mk4 is DONE after 14 months. 1/2 way thru the NY DMV process. I need to update my build site but today is about a GOOD car cover. I purchased a cheap cover a few months back to keep cobra clean while transporting on an open trailer to my painter friend 45 minutes away. This is during NY winter but roads were mainly dry. Removed windshield but otherwise body/door/hood/truck in place. Over cover I placed one layer of shrink wrap around perimeter and then crossed over center from both sides. One strap over door area and car trailered fine at 50 mph max. Car arrived clean. Now I plan to use this same inexpensive cover in place of a tonneau for longer parking or waiting out rain. I have dual roll bars and high back seats so Piggyback tonneau said No. This $40 cover, made for a miata, fits Well, has lasted and stuffs into a small bag to keep in the trunk. Maybe a good option over your expensive cover for longer storage. Amazon vendor Gunhyi, the small one for cars up to 163". My cobra is under the cover.
Enjoy.
