Had a pretty cool opportunity this weekend - Got to play around on the high banks at Talladega.... crazy that the car wants to slide down the banks... the track is definitely smooth, and I can't imagine being 3 wide anywhere on the track... turn 1 looks like you are driving at a wall!!! Great event - lots of track time - everybody was great and a huge shout out to the track workers....made it very fun - I will definitely be making this a yearly thing as long as they have it.

I think this would be a super bad@$$ bucket list item to check-off. Very cool, Erik! Can you share what speed you were allowed to go, or was there a limit restriction. Any cobra (Roadsters) in the field? It would be wild if you can hit a few other tracks; Indianapolis, Charlotte or a road course too. I’m sure that was an amazing experience to live. Thanks for sharing!

Very cool. Our club has had a couple events at one of the Ford test tracks in our area including their high speed banked oval. They wouldn't let us on the highest most steeply banked lane. Have driven it with both our Coupe and our Roadster. I did a Richard Petty Driving Experience at MIS a few years ago. I know exactly what you mean about what those banks look like when you approach them. That plus the lane they want you to drive is from the top right down to the bottom. I thought exactly what you mentioned. Couldn't imagine having cars all around me.

We did it 19 years ago. We had a Lotus Europa Twin cam and it felt like the car wanted to switch ends , But what an experience and the people were so nice , They have a fan appreciation day and they let people drive on the track , You also need to go to the Motorsports hall of fame which only a couple of miles away . And while you're in the area Barber museum and race track is also a must see , Ed

RE: Walls. First time I put my roadster on banked track was at Gateway during RunN'Gun back in 2008. The infield road course dumps out onto the oval turn 3 and 4 and then down the main straight. Have to admit that at first the walls up there were kind of intimidating (OK, make that pretty intimidating!) but then after running some laps at speed I realized that it's like Erik said and until you go way beyond the traction threshold the car actually wants to come down the banking and not toward the wall :)
