I'm working on a clients fairly new MK4 roadster and need to service all the master cylinders because of contamination and other issues. Is there an method that is less difficult to remove the three master cylinders? He does have the fuse box mounted below that area. I'm positive the seat will need to go so I can lay down under the dash.

There's a panel in the engine compartment just above the footbox that might give you more access. Some people make it removable, but FFR has you rivet it in. You could always drill out the rivets (if it has them) and rivet it back when you're done.

There's a couple of threads on here about replacing failed Wilwood master cylinders with Tiltons after after the car was completed. It's very painful.

You may be able to drop the fuse block down to access the MC's, which is why I moved the fuse block to the passenger side of the car.

Thanks for the response. The top panel is not installed. But with that said, it still looks terrible to access.

Helps to pull the dash. What I've been told is the clutch MC is the worse.
I replaced all 3 MCs over the winter. I went through the access panel on top of the foot box in the engine bay and used driver extensions from under the dash in the driver side foot well to get a better angle to loosen and tighten some nuts. I was able to do it all without removing the dash but it was frustrating at times. Required an assortment of shorty wrenches and extensions at various places. As noted by others I switched from Wildwood to Tilton due to some quality concerns.
