I moved on to other issues due to a little frustration with the rear brake setup but now I am back on it. I have the FFR supplied 2015 Mustang brakes with the IRS. I "wallowed" out the hole for the E-brake cable as described by the manual. I can fit the cable into the brake caliper hole without interference from the bolt behind it.

Once the E-brake cable is in place, the cable itself really has no place to go. Somehow, it apparently has to get to here.

And after that, it has to get to here.

How can this be?
Thanks.

Is this a MK4 roadster? The cable mounting tab appears to be in a more forward PS location than mine with an IRS and 11.65 rear brakes.

But the cable installation should be the same...the outer sheath with the spring tabs is a push in lock fit to the cable bracket mount in your second photo and the inner cable is captured by the hand brake clevis' in the 3rd photo.

My only feasible routing was in front of the rear shock, above the lower control arm and up and over the CV axles to reach the cable bracket mount location.

That's not the mount for the e-brake. I think that mount is if you are using donor parts. There is another set of holes much further back by where the IRS hub either is or will be. That is what they route to. The manual has you going under the 4" tube. A lot of folks followed Paul and put a pully in. I was going to top mount mine so it would have been a direct run but went with an electronic brake instead.

Edit. Here is a better photo that shows where the cables go.

Thanks much for your help, I will search for these other mounts. Cannot believe I have not noticed them already.

I think Jen got it right. With these calipers being mounting more to the rear of the spindle than on top like shown in the instructions, the routing that the manual describes simply can't work. Do what Jen described and it should work for you. In my build thread starting at post 81 there are a few photos that may assist. I think my routing is pretty much what Jen described.

If I can hijack the thread.....Any suggestions on replacing the rear cables with low friction units? My e-brakes don't release readily. I have Mustang PBR brakes. I have greased them up but there seems too much internal friction. Comments anyone?
