View Full Version : Hood latch mounting

Are people finding that the mounting screws FFR provides for the hood latches are working long-term? I haven't seen mention of problems, but I've also noticed that some people have gone through the hood with screws and lock nuts.

I know the grab handles on the boats we've had were mounted in a similar manner, but there was a lot more material for the screw to bite.

Yep, they work just fine. A suggestion... Orient the bases side to side on the hood. If you go front to back you have to be dead nuts centered on the underside rib otherwise one of the screws will likely blow through the side of the rib (I see this on probably 80% of the cars that I get in when the owner has installed them in the front to rear position).

I wish I had seen the earlier thread—last week one of my screws did exactly as you said. Bummer.
