I don't currently own one and planning first start very soon (Gen2 Coyote). I've seen a lot of folks say it's handing to have one on-hand in case you need to clear codes to start it. Any recommendations? Is there a popular choice for folks here? My preference would be a bluetooth version that I can read on my iPhone.

Back when I was using Forscan to update my F-150 the wisdom was to use a wired vs wireless unit so that you didn't lose connection mid-update and end up "bricking" your vehicle.
Not sure if this would be an issue in your case though.

OBDlinkMX+ is generally considered to be the best of the bluetooth dongles. It comes with software for Windows, Apple and Android, plus there are any number of other apps for Apple and Android you can try. I use Torque Pro on my Android phone.
You can get it on Amazon or directly from OBDlink, it will be over $100 but it reads and writes every module compared to the $30 ones that don't.

Sky's the limit. Just depends on how much you want to spend. I have a couple but they're not new and have no idea if they're still available of even the best. I'd suggest a Google/Amazon search, look at reviews, etc. Obviously you want it to read and be able to reset codes. I also found value in scanners that allow you to monitor while driving including having several parameters showing at once. One of mine does that. Like a configurable dashboard. I tried one of the Bluetooth ones a few years ago on my first Coyote build (Gen 2). It didn't want to connect and I returned it. Your experience may vary.
Another vote for the OBDlink MX+ and the Torque Pro app, especially if you ever need custom PIDs. Dash Command is a good app too, as you can just buy extended parameters that you might need instead of having to figure out PIDs, but at $10 each, it can get expensive quick if you want to use it on multiple vehicles.

No need to get too crazey on how much scanner to buy. I bought a ANCEL brand scanner on ebay for $107 about a year ago.
It is amazing at just how much it does for the money.
Here is the same one i bought:

I ended up getting the OBDlink MX+ bluetooth scanner to try it out. Hopefully it plays nice with the Coyote. If not, back to Amazon it will go. I didn't mention this in my original post but when I bought the kit from another builder back in 2021, they had purchased an Autopi.IO OBD reader. They gave the unit to me with the car. I'm not 100% sure all the capabilities as I haven't really researched its capabilities, but I think it gives you GPS location as well as access to all the OBD sensor outputs via an app and/or web page. It can log trips, monitor real-time, etc. I think the primary use for this device is fleet monitoring for companies. I don't know if you can clear codes, etc. so that's why I went ahead and god the OBDLink device.
