Is it possible to put a glove box of any sort into a finished dash without removal of the body or too much intrusion? (Other than the hole that must be cut for the box)
Any suggestions of options is appreciated

much easier to put a pocket in a door card... what do you plan on storing in the glovebox? just for looks? or functional?

here's my setup A/C setup in the same spot as the full size heater

I guess it depends on how the builder attached the dash. At the min, you'll need to remove the steering wheel and column. If you have screws you can reach that are attaching the dash, you should be able to drop it down to remove the dash to work on. If the body is covering up the screws, you'd need to remove the windshield and front QJs to try to bump the front of the body up high enough to reach those screws.

Just for anything extra. I do have door pockets already.
I do plan to use a Breeze trunk cubby to open up some cockpit space. I just thought however it might be nice to add a “little” extra.
And I do feel it does look better.

Thx for the feedback
I actually thought not being able to see the dash screws were a benefit for looks but realize now it kind of sucks. I cannot see mine which as you point out, now makes for a deeper-dive to get the dash off. Maybe for another day.

There's very little room behind that area of the dash, even less so if you have the Vintage Air heater and vents. They are extremely shallow, and won't hold much.
Need more storage...Just attach a fanny pack to the passenger seat so it hangs at the rear of it..:)

Here is my dash and glove box. Notice that the dash fastening screws are exposed. They just blend in. I think they actually add to the finish. If you ever think you might want to redo you dash entirely I can send you the CAD files to have one cut locally by a waterjet if you like.

I made my own glovebox to maximize the space I had available. I do not have heater vents and for me the glovebox has plenty of space.

Thanks so much for the offer. May take you up on that one day.
Beautiful job on your dash!!
Love the symmetry.

Winter project. Regardless of how it was attached, it's not as big of a project as building the whole kit. If you want a glove box, then just add it. I have a glove box with a heater, and a cubby between the seats . You can never have enough storage imho.

Again if you have a heater, you'll have very limited space there and need to modify the depth to 1-2". For those shorter glove boxes, you be able to keep some registration paperwork, a pair of gloves and a stick of chapstick in there ;)
If it's the symmetry you want, you can always cut a hole and put a faux door there.
I also did not like having the blank dash on the PS and did my own spin on things.

You could build a center console between the seats biased against the rear bulkhead area. Mount to the upper transmission tunnel rails. Make the height of the console such that it does not interfere with your elbow when shifting. Will be very handy, and will hold a lot more than a glove box in these cars would ever be able to achieve. And - no body removal or dash removal required.

Don't take it the wrong way CDXXVII, but I enjoy looking at your dash anytime you post a picture of it ;)

Nice work!

P.S.: I wouldn't mind a detailed drawing for my local Waterjet operator if you could send me the file:o

I did, and it turned out great. Left the dash in place and cut out a hole using a jig saw. Just be careful to cut the hole in the right place based on what's behind it. I believe I bought the glove box from Fin1$hlin3(hate to even mention that company) but I'm sure you can buy one elsewhere. It's a tight fit, but works great and pretty easy to do.
