Hi all,

I'm building one of the early 818S kits that has the original fuel tank design, where instead of using the donor vehicle's fuel pump, F5 supplied an after-market fuel pump assembly (https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dfp-hp10146?seid=srese1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuIbBBhBvEiwAsNypveaRDko9WZyOu3ZpKOwv gSkagEp7NhvdWYCZGyxQe9SVIcPl7xGERBoCt-EQAvD_BwE), along with some quick connectors to connect the fuel lines to the pump.

The instructions specify a white quick-connect plug for the engine end of the fuel lines and for the pump output. The return pipe on the pump is slightly smaller, and the instructions specify the black quick connector for that one.

The white connectors, once snapped on, feel nice and snug. No worries! But the black connector, once snapped on, has about 1/8" of play and jiggles around freely. It won't pop off unless I squeeze the quick connector release, but I can't help being skeptical that the connection is fuel-tight. Surely it's going to leak? All of my instincts are telling me to toss the black quick-connector and just use hose clamps here.

Can somebody offer some perspective? Are my instincts on point or am I just not understanding how these connectors work?

Thanks!

Eric

It should be tight just like the other one. Maybe you were sent the wrong part.
