Anybody has experience with installing alternative (better looking, more robust, higher quality) fuel tanks on a coupe?
I see Boyd Welding and Fuel Safe offer roadster tanks. Anybody tried them for coupe?

subscribed. i'm interested in this too
I installed an aftermarket tank from a 63 Impala (and other GM B-body cars of that vintage). Took a bit of fabrication, but it fit nicely, holds 20 gallons, has a sump bowl for the EFI (no other internal baffling however, which was a disappointment). To use the factory fuel filler location, you have to install it backwards which works (sump is not directional) and puts the fuel pump on the LH side of the car.
This was the early mockup, but gives you the approximate idea. Not saying this is necessarily the best option based on what you may want, but it is an option.

I am well behind the curve, having built my Type 65 twenty-two years ago, but at that time both the roadster and Coupe used the stock Mustang fuel tank. If this is still the case, then it would seem that the aftermarket units offered for the roadster should fit. I would think that a all to the vendor would produce an answer.

Appreciate feedback everybody and build details! I too thought since its the same mustang on a coupe as on roadster, others should find. Boyd Welding and FuelSafe if asked directly would say they don't know.

The Cobra and Gen 3 tanks are the same (Fox Mustang) except the filler pipes are different.

I put a Boyd fuel tank in my mk4 Cobra, and have the FFR / mustang tank in my Daytona. I see no reason why the Boyd tank wouldn't fit the Daytona perfectly....
