Hi gents,

Hello from the new guy in central Jersey (West Long Branch). I'm a long-time Ford guy - have had five Mustangs over the years and just wrapped up a multi-year restoration of a '65 Falcon wagon about a year ago. But I've wanted to build a Cobra for over forty years - started looking into them back in college (Everett-Morrison) then found out about FFR when they first introduced the Gen 1 car (I remember reading about how to modify the Fox wiring harnesses and cutting up the gauge package for use in the dash :) ). Kept trying to figure out how to make it happen but life and family always took top priority.

Flash forward to 2025 - retiring later this month and my wife (God bless her soul) suggested that maybe it's time to finally build the Cobra that I've always been talking about. It seems like such a stereotype to link retirement and kicking off a major project like this, but I guess it does make sense - you finally have the time to yourself. So I'm planning to travel up to the factory for the Open House next month to check things out. The Falcon will have to go - one of the pitfalls of having a one-car garage, but I think this will surely make up for it. BTW I'm looking at building a 289 USRRC car and going through all the normal research (want IRS and pin drives - how to make that work...). I appreciate everyone's input as I move forward. I'm planning to order the kit next year as I want to enjoy the Falcon this summer before letting her go.

Thanks!

Rob

Welcome and good luck with your project. It is amazing how many of us have the same story. I also have recently retired and my wife said the same thing. Our kit gets delivered later this week after decades of dreaming about it.

Hi Rob , Is your Falcon the black one that shows up at the Asbury Circuit ? Thats a nice car , I show up with a FFR Cobra or a Studebaker . My MKII Cobra was also a retirement dream but mine was completed But I rewired it , Rebuilt the engine and added power brakes. We drive the car as much as possible and have done trips to Ohio and Lake George. i'm in Beachwood , Follow the Dream , Ed

Hi Ed - yes, that's my wagon. Now that the weather is getting a bit better I'll be down the the Circuit. A plus of being retired is that I'll be able to get there early enough to get a parking spot :D

BTW which Cobra is yours so I can keep an eye out for it?
