does any have pics of the inner workings of the vintage air heater? My knob/stem pulled out completely last weekend and I wanted to know what I was looking for before I lay upside down in the cockpit, looking under the dash. The end of the stem has an unthreaded hole and I wasn't sure if there was a wire that hooked into the hole or if it was for some sort of roll pin.
Hoping someone is in the build process and can take a quick pic of what the shaft-to-wire connection looked like.

Edit: looking at the VA website, it looks like the failure is somewhere inside the sheath itself. I wonder if I will be able to push the wire far enough backwards in the sheath to discover the failure point or just need to buy a new switch/cable/sheath.
Anyone have any experience w/ VA customer service and whether or not this is something they cover as a warranty part?

Hello egchewy,

I am not sure if these pictures will help. They are of my FFR provided Vintage Air Heater/Defroster that is still to be installed. Let me know if you have questions.

that's what I was afraid of. It looks like the shaft goes into the sheath where it connects up w/ the wire that opens/closes the valve. Looking at the opposite end, I'm not sure if there's enough wire to push it back towards the shaft as the shaft is about 3-4" long. I'm guessing the wire is just crimped or hooked to the hole at the end of the shaft. Maybe I could get a length of same caliber wire and reconstruct the whole thing.

egchewy79,
If you decide you need a new one, I didn’t use mine-I separated the functions into a fan speed knob and a toggle controlled electric water valve. I’ll be back in the shop Thursday and will see if it’s still in the box. Pretty sure it is.

Thanks for the offer. I actually emailed tech support at vintage air and explained the situation. They are sending me a new cable/switch for free! Great customer service
