Best fender covers?

I have to do some engine work and want the paint well protected, so far I'm leaving the hood on.

I had one suggestion of carpet bath mats with the rubber backing?

What is working for everybody??

I just use an old bath towel. Nice and soft. Stays in place if you let some hang into engine compartment. Thin enough so hood closing does not torque the hood.
