I've been daily drivering my S for a spell to the airport and back while chasing ignition gremlins in my plane. Coming home late in the day I'm driving straight into the low sun. I came up with a two birds approach for it. On warm to hot days, the windshield is a bit too effective at keeping air off the driver. I put some vents in the dash and inline fans but could still use more air. I used some RAM parts to make a visor that doubles as a wind scoop. By rotating the visor, I can get sun coverage for the top half of the windscreen and also above it or turn it all the way over for air scoop. If the sun is right on the horizon, I can swing the arm down and cover it all the way to the dash. Swung inline with the windscreen, it pretty much disappears from my view. If I don't need it, takes about ten seconds to remove and stash behind the seat. My wife is already asking when I'm going to do her side. ;-)

I got the idea from a friend holding up a clipboard and cooling us off on a hot day. I can't afford to hire somebody to hold up a clipboard for me so...

Having tested it at speed today, I have to say that as an air scoop, it makes a better sun visor. It really wants to be supported at both ends. Too flimsy. So far, only one and a half birds with one stone.

Trimmed it a bit. It's pretty good around town for delivering air. Get up around 60 and it's flexing enough to make me think about it breaking off at some point. Easy enough to aim it where it's not scooping air and no worries about breaking. The smaller size will make a little more work to use it as a visor, but not a problem. It kind of looked too big anyway.

Version 2.1
Two sided support now and 7" X ~12". Much more stable. I have had it up to about 80 with no problems. It will scoop up as much air as I can stand and is easily adjustable. I haven't driven into low sun yet, but it will for sure be better than no visor at all. Hot days are still gonna be hot, but I've experienced times when the windscreen was blocking cooler air than I was feeling in the cabin.
