I have a fiberglass piece I need to marry up to the body around the oil cooler hole. After doing a rough fitting and sanding I need to fill this gap. Question is what is the best way to do this? Can I build up body filer in the cavity and build off of that (my preference), do I need to build some sort of structure to lay over the top of, build off the edge or do I need to learn how to lay fiberglass?

I appreciate it if the experts could weigh in

ultimately I want the bottom of the splitter to settle inline with the bottom of the oil cooler hole.

Thanks!

Or you could let the guy doing your bodywork and paint deal with it…

You could manage the panel gap(s) like any other body panel and paint it, matching or contrasting. Future repair, parking block, driveway ramp strikes will be facilitated. At some point you may choose to remove the add-on panel.
