I am second guessing an order, and I need information to help me decide
which spindle to use on a 289 ( aka MK4) car......
I currently have a set of SN95 dogleg spindles, or I can go with the FFR spindles..
It is my understanding that the main benefit of the FFR spindle is to reduce
bump steer, and the reason that Ford did the dogleg spindle in 1994 was
also to reduce bump steer...
So if both sets will help to reduce bump steer, why should I spend the extra
cash for the FFR spindles ??
What am I missing here ??

I have the SN95 spindles with the balljoint adapters but I'm running pin drive narrow suspension. From what I've seen if you're building a standard width suspension the FFR spindles are preferred.

I've had both. No comparison. There are measures to be taken to reduce bump steer with the SN95 spindles. Tried them and it helped (I guess). With the FFR spindles, 100% gone. If they fit your setup, get the FFR spindles.

Mike, this is on a 289 FIA car, and the PD arms will be required , so if I use the SN95 spindles, i we would both be using the same combination of arms and spindles......
I will also be using SN95 adjustable QA1 BJ's.

There's more to it than just bump steer Derald. The entire geometry including the UCA mounting point and the steering axis angle is improved as well. Back to back personal experience; I thought my Mk3 was well set up with minimal bump steer and good highway manners running about 8 degrees of caster with the quick ratio power steering. It was a great autocross, track and street car. I did the chassis retrofit and changed over to the FFR spindles in part so that I could get 13" front brakes. I was honestly not expecting a tremendous change in how the car drove---and I was totally wrong. The difference was dramatic! The car was totally unfazed by any change or irregularity in the road surface and totally composed at 80+ with one hand on the wheel. In my opinion the cost of upgrading to the FFR spindles is some of the best money you'll spend building the car :)

Jeff, a question as I don't recall seeing it discussed. Can they be used on a Mk3 with pin drive? I'm thinking not

What SN95 spindles do you have? Are they from a donor or supplied by FFR?
I am using pin-drive wheels… I have researched the FFR two piece spindles with pin-drive wheels and the only information I have been able to find is “they will not work”… if anyone out there knows the reason(s) the two piece spindles are not compatible with pin-drive wheels please post it…

What SN95 spindles do you have?
1994-95 Mustang with the dog leg steering arm, in 1996 and up, the steering arm was straightened out.
I already have the FFR arms in my order, but I was just trying to save a few bucks.
I am also interested in the comparison of the 2 piece vs the 1 piece.

My understanding of the 2 piece spindles is they have the "SAI mod" built in for improved geometry.
I am sorry I was not more clear with my question about your spindles... are the spindles you have from FFR or are they OEM Ford?
The reason I am interested in which spindles you have, FFR or OEM Ford, is because I am having a devil of a time getting the hubs to fit on the spindle snout. I have the FFR supplied SN95 "dogleg" spindles and have never experienced any issues having the hubs slide on the OEM Ford spindles.

Not sure what you’re saying here Derald…the FFR 2 piece spindles are NOT SN 95
